IMO Bokurano is just as poignant as Sekai Oni if not more so. It's one of those works of fiction that's so authentic with its portrayal its characters and what they go through in everyday life that it pulls back the curtain and exposes the harsh realities of the world we live in that are easy to ignore for most of us.

I think that's why Waku "went first" if you know what I mean. It's like the author was using him and his life as an allegory for "normal" then after him the other kids represented the hidden truth of reality that defies our perception of what we consider to be normal. Sort of a "this is what we think of as normal" vs "this is what is actually normal; the ugly hidden realities that lie just beneath the surface of what we consider to be normal."Terry Brandstromhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10518987626559700900noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1221608027689754679.post-12532236375668219182015-02-01T21:31:02.990-08:002015-02-01T21:31:02.990-08:00That Clarissa comic looks really disturbing, and I...That Clarissa comic looks really disturbing, and I am surprised to see that all the comics are at least a decade old already. It's a shame that there is no happy ending for Clarissa, but judging from the tone of the comic, I don't expect a happy ending from at least another character (particularly the family) if Clarissa got the happy ending.

From that site I only knew about Weapon Brown, which I was also surprised also ended, but then again I didn't check their site for a long time. Of course, I checked it out because its main draw is a crossover of comic strip characters, even though the strong language is something I had to tolerate. I thought it was interesting that Calvin is cast as the main villain of the story, because I always thought that Calvin fits the mould of a villain more than a hero (a glance through most fanfics casted Calvin as the hero).

Thanks for reading.Edwin Cheenoreply@blogger.com
